On, On Turkey of Day
Have you ever heard 24,000 people trying to clap in synch with a song, i.e. On, On, U of K? Well, the sychronization lasts for about 10 beats. Honest Injun! The people in the land of the Bluegrass can raise tobacco, corn, and cane with the best of them, but clapping just isn't the strongsuit here. I witnessed this first hand for the umpteenth and hopefully not the last time at Rupp Arena last Wednesday. Northern State was in LexVegas to try to tame the Wildcats in the exhibition home opener. No taming was done that night.
The Cats looked like a decent OVC team. Par for pre-season, I guess. The seasoned big men, both 7' plus, I remind you, Lukas Orbzut and Shegari Allyene, looked like true freshmen as they combined for 4 points and 4 rebounds against a team whose tallest starter was 6'6". Embarrassing. Have ye hope, though. The "real" true freshman, Jared Carter, from Scott Co. did look as though he might foot the bill this season. Don't quote me on this one, but I believe he had 8 pts, 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots in 13 minutes of play. Also, he mixed it up with the opposition getting called for an "away from the ball" foul. This makes me happy. Having a big man that wasn't timid was on Tubby's wishlist for the 2005-2006 season and he got him without even knowing it.
RAAAAJON RONNNDOOOOOO!
The "Glove" still has it. Four steals and a remarkable alley oop! He is the real reason I even go to exhibition games. There have been very few basketball players I have purely enjoyed watching (Dennis Rodman, Kevin Johnson, Dan Abner, to name a few.), but this kid takes the cake. I find myself rarely sitting when he is in the game. Pure excitement.
I think we all had an excellent time at the bachelor party last weekend. I think the hotdogs we cooked up were the best dogs I have ever eaten. Thanks to Jonathon's aunt for hooking us up with the box seats at Keeneland. That was the cherry on the top, or was it the $130 exacta I hit on the Filly & Mare Turf Breeder's Cup race? Who knows?
Thanksgiving will be here shortly. Turkey lurkey! I have to fly to Greenwood/Spartansburg, SC for work next week as I am going to a vendor audit. Duane G. will be going with me, so we should have a dandy of a time. Have you heard? I'm getting married. We met with the preacher last week. He is a really cool guy-funny! I think he helped to put Beth and myself at ease about the ceremony. She wants us to face the congregation during the ceremony. I will try to fight this, but I am sure I will lose. That's life and love on Long Island........Pond!
Peacimus Maximus
P.S. Don't watch Blade Trinity. It sucks more than a vampire.

C-A-T-S! Cats, Cats, Cats!!
Speaking of... Dan Abner called me yesterday, but didn't leave a message. I was in the middle of our Tuesday night service at work, so I didn't catch the call. Randomness. Maybe I'll call him tonight.
Facing the congregation, eh? I hope you don't pass out. Somebody'll have to, "Call an am-BU-lance."

Yeah, when they come to get me, you can say, "HEY, OVER HERE!" And you can follow that with a, "MY TURF!" and a "C'MON, BRING IT!"
